I adore this pattern. Endpaper Mitts is a free pattern by Eunny Jang that has been around for at least a decade, because it was about a decade ago that I made my first pair. I wore those for years and was devastated when I lost one of them while biking in 2011. I still mourn them a little bit.
Despite a lengthy mourning period, I still haven’t made myself another pair. These will likely not be for me, but will be a Christmas present for a recipient that I have not fully decided on yet. Every year I think I won’t be knitting Christmas presents, and every year Matt has a good laugh at me as I decide two weeks from Christmas that I will. Ha. Ha. Ha. Here I go again.
This yarn is some long stashed Malabrigo Sock in Archangel for the main color and Cloudborn Merino sock in Ivory for the contrast color. Both of those skeins have enough to make two pairs, so I might make a reverse version of these at some point just for fun. Endpaper Mitts area wonderful Fair Isle project and would be perfect for a beginner wanting to try out some Fair Isle.
Beware, though. Fair Isle is really, really addictive.
Since this pattern is no longer available, would you have a recommendation for another pattern? It looks like the perfect way to learn fair isle.
Hey Susan, I found it right here: http://eunnyjang.com/knit/2006/11/endpaper_mitts.html
Thank you! It’s not on Ravelry and I didn’t think to search anywhere else. Duh. Merry Christmas to you, Matt and Charlotte and Zooey.
Thanks, Susan! You too. 🙂
Oh wow! Those are great mitts! Love the color combo as well as the pattern.
Pretty color combination. I have that in my faves. Glad it’s a great pattern.
I have completed many projects in that colorway. Your socks look wonderful.
