Sooooo, I’ve already changed my mind about the colors for my SSKAL League sweater. I kept thinking it over and it was nagging at my brain that I would not like the navy with the bright orange. I gave in and decided that buying one more skein would not be a tragedy. I went with more Miss Babs Keira in Juniper.

The little accent color by the shoulder will be the French Marigold (orange) and the sleeves will be Juniper. I will have PLENTY of the French Marigold left for other projects since I really only need to use 70 yards out of the 560, but I love this color, so that’s not a tragedy. I will probably use every scrap of the Juniper since I have slightly less than the yardage requirements by a handful of yards. However, my gauge is a bit looser since this yarn is a heavier fingering weight. My row gauge might just get me there without much issue. As it gets closer to time to do the sleeves I plan on dividing the ball into equal skeins, or just knitting them both at the same time so that they’re even. The sleeves are worked from the bottom up. I might try to reverse that, or just gamble and rip some out if I must. I am feeling confident about it though, because the yardage is really close. Worst case scenario, I have a little more knitting time and three-quarter sleeves. No big deal.

I’m further along with the front than shown in the picture, since I usually have some delay time between photos, processing them, and actually getting the blogging done. I’m now at the part where I will start using the French Marigold but the yarn label suggests prewashing yarns with high contrast to make sure the dye is set. I’ve never seen that on a yarn label before, so I want to take it seriously. It’s nice that they acknowledge and suggest that, because sometimes bleeding happens and sometimes that’s devastating. I wish I’d seen it before I weighed and wound off my precise little balls of yarn, but at least I noticed before I started knitting.

This year I’m really pumped about my upcoming knitting. I have the next few projects in my Ravelry queue. I cleaned up the queue to reflect my anticipated projects more accurately. What are you excited about knitting for fall?
