For now, it’s a dress

gemini-5Zooey’s second mini Gemini can be worn, but it’s more like a knee length dress.

gemini-8 This is how much she likes me taking her picture. gemini-7The yarn is Shiny Happy Cotton by Wool and the Gang in the color Spearmint. I used almost two full balls. The company sent me this yarn to review ages ago and I finally got around to knitting it. It has many many tiny plies, making for a really smooth and round yarn. It’s pleasant to work with and I think it made a really polished piece. I think it will wear well and a toddler can really put things to the test, so we shall see. Check out my Ravelry project page for some tips on the numbers if you’re wanting to resize the pattern. geminiI had one little fish button that was just perfect for this top. Of course, this made Z want to turn the piece around so the button would be in the front. The original Gemini is meant to be reversible, so I guess she’s just hip to that.  gemini-6It’s more like a Gemini shift dress than a Gemini tee. I kinda love it this way though and am pleased she might actually get to wear it. gemini-2That face kills me. gemini-3I love this kid.

It’s my birthday week, and I’m turning 34, so just for the heck of it all my patterns will be 34% off this week. Use HAPPY34 as the coupon code at checkout. Enjoy!

June is for Geminis

geminiI’ve had this Wool and the Gang Shiny Happy Cotton (color: Spearmint) in my stash for about 10 months since they sent it to me to review. It seemed the perfect yarn to make Zooey another Gemini top. The one I made her last year is most definitely too small and will have to be passed on to Charlotte one of these days. For this one I cast on 48 stitches with a size 8 needle and switched to a size 9 needle after the lace portion. It will be around 24″ in the chest and will likely fit or be slightly large now.

This yarn is incredibly smooth. It’s one of the nicer cottons I’ve worked with and has many tiny plies, so I’m hoping that means that it won’t pill much. I love this color. It’s pretty close in color to the Togue Pond I just finished and will post about soon, so Z and I can be a little matchy matchy this summer.

Can you handle the cuteness?

mini gemini-7Z’s mini Gemini is completed and we photographed it this weekend! I used about 200 yards of yarn in Jo Sharp Summer DK Cotton in the color Poppy.  I don’t know if this yarn is still out in the world anywhere.  It was deeply discounted at my LYS last summer and I snagged it.  mini gemini-2Look at that little cheeser.  mini gemini-8I’m happy that she’ll get to wear this as the weather cools a bit.  mini geminiMaybe it will even fit in the spring.  I made it about 9 inches from the armpit to the bottom.  See some numbers details on my Ravelry project page.  mini gemini-11If you can’t tell already, I love taking pics of my kiddo, so you get a picture heavy post! mini gemini-9Ladies and gentlemen, we’ve got another Matchy Matchy KAL project finished!

My yarn for a Coda just came in the mail a few minutes ago, so I get to cast on tonight!
