I wasn’t planning for any S.E.X. this morning, but then this happened:
It was at my LYS, just begging to be picked up. Hold on, hold on. I don’t mean sex. I meant it was a Stash Enhancement eXpedition, of course. I’ve you’ve read the popular knitting guide Stitch n’ Bitch, you might recognize S.E.X. as one of their acronyms.
The yarn is Dream in Color Knitosophy in the color Strength. I used this brand of yarn on Zooey’s Pinwheel Blanket before, and was pretty fond of it. I think I’m going to whip up a Little Sister’s Dress, but I can’t tell you who the recipient is just yet.
I also recently acquired this yarn at a stash swap at my LYS.
I couldn’t resist it when the former owner said she’d give it to me for $15, since Lorna’s Laces is usually double that for a pair of socks. Some of Matt’s favorite socks are made with Lorna’s Laces, and this color (Fiddlehead) seems like a nice manly color, so they will probably end up as a pair for him.
Hope everyone is having a great weekend. I wish you all lots of S.E.X.
I had S.E.X. today … And it was awesome. We had a yarn sale/exchange at my local knitting club and although I didn’t buy anything (I’m saving up for the yarn festival next month) I traded about 60g of sockyarn for “finger wool” from Schoppel – and I’m going to spin something with it! So happy … 😀
Lots of S.E.X. also means lots of yarn porn 😉
Oh those are both glorious. Cannot wait to see them knit up!
I really wondered what S.E.X. stood for! LOL! Nice S.E.X.!
Pretty yarns! I have my eye on a CSA share from Vermont Grandview Farm, but I have sworn not to buy any yarn until I finish the blanket I’m knitting!
I didn’t remember S.E.X. from Stitch n’ Bitch – perfect acronym. There’s a yarn store in Chicago that will buy your unused yarn, and that’s where I’m planning my next S.E.X. Also, I think it’s such a great idea. Do other yarn stores do that?
That is really cool. I haven’t heard of any other yarn stores doing that. We tried a stash swap at my LYS, but it was mostly people wanting to sell, rather than acquire. I think we needed more announcements about it.
Hi. I’ve nominated you for a blog award. I really enjoy reading what you write.http://slippedstitches.files.wordpress.com/2013/09/one_lovely_blog_award.jpg?w=249
I really like the color of the Dream in Color skein. And I love the name “Fiddlehead” – fern fiddleheads are so pretty, and I just just picture a nice swirly cable pattern with that yarn.
Have fun with the new yarn!
Ooh I love these!! Nice choice!
Dreamy post! I had some S.E.X this weekend at one of my LYS. I went to get presents for other knitters, but had to walk away with some Sweet Georgia … Happy Knitting. Can’t wait to see how your yarn adventures continue. You knit lovely.
Ahaa! I didn’t know this acronym! lol
Love your new yarns! I used this Lorna’s Laces colorway once, and I was very happy with the result.
