I can finally unveil one of my secret projects of the recent past. These are some Staccato Socks by Veronik Avery. The pattern is from the book Knitting Socks with Handpainted Yarns. I always squirrel away these vivid and colorful sock yarn skeins in my stash and don’t quite know what to do with them, aside from stockinette socks, to show off their gorgeousness. I really like the Staccato Socks pattern because it has an easily memorable 2-row repeat. I did alter them to be toe-up and did my favorite heel flap.
How about the yarn? It’s Manos del Uraguay Alegria in the color Macachines. It’s SOFT. The color is even more gorgeous in person. These were handed off to my friend Jenni for her birthday yesterday. They fit!
A slightly wild and crazy part of me thought I could also finish these in October, so they would count as a Socktober project, but I gave up toward the end because I was a bit weary of deadline knitting. They were finished on the 5th, in plenty of time for J’s birthday and she loves them.
Such lovely colours. They look very cozy!
Those colors are really gorgeous!
Those are awesome. I love that yarn. Just ordered myself some! Now I just need to get the book. I like how you did that heel, how did you do that?
Thanks! I make all the heels like that in my sock patterns. You can find them on Ravelry. If you just want to see what it’s like, Earlybird and Summer Slice are free patterns.
These are absolutely gorgeous, i just orderd some dpn’s going to try and learn how to use the as i really want to knit socks and toys. Love the they are fabulous!
Have you tried circular needles? I prefer them to dpn’s….i dont drop sts with circulars 🙂

Oh thats a shame. Good luck with the dpn’s 🙂

Cool. I like them. Very beautiful.
That’s awesome that you were able to finish them in time for your friend’s birthday 🙂 Early November is close enough to Socktober!
I too squirrel away hand painted sock yarns. I currently need a solid to use with some Jawoll Magic for a stranded project and….nope! No solids. Oh dear, back to the yarn store, poor me 😉
Oh shucks….
You do amazing work. I enjoy reading. About your projects…thanks for sharing these lovely socks!
Love the colors! Nice job on the socks!:-)
