Matt and I exchanged very belated Christmas gifts. Our anniversary is December 12th, so we decided to delay our Christmas gift exchange for awhile. I got him some cigars and some beard balm. Super manly gifts! He got me a pretty little wool tweed hat (not knitted), and some YARN!

I always have a wishlist going of yarn (and a few non-yarn items) that I want. I share that with Matt and my family. My family members always say things like, “I don’t want to just get you more yarn. You have so much!” Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat? Seriously. I don’t get that at all. That’s tantamount to just saying, “I don’t want to get you the gift you really want.” I’m so easy to shop for, really. A couple of times Matt and other friends have just gone to my LYS and Cynthia knows me well enough to point them in the direction of something I’ve been eyeing. Sock yarn with a good amount of merino is usually a win.jonquil

This is some Claudia Handpainted Fingering yarn in Jonquil. This kind of yarn is what I made my very first hand knit socks from, so I feel a little sentimental about it. Those socks are still hanging in there, but they’ve felted a bit on the bottom, and my tension was really tight on one sock and quite loose on the other, so they’re a bit funny in general. My LYS used to carry it, but they don’t anymore. I found a large selection of it at Eat Sleep Knit (love that store name). Even though I have many, many, many skeins of fingering weight yarn I am always knitting at least one pair of socks and it’s the most inspiring and fun part of my stash to look at. I’m happy to add this to the collection.
