I’ve started a pair of the ubiquitous Hermione’s Everyday Socks. It’s a free pattern on Ravelry and the repeats are autopilot enough to work on during meetings at work, or possibly during a movie in the theater. That’s an important part of choosing a sock pattern for me. I have to have at least one small project that takes very little of my attention so it’s unobtrusive enough for me to work on it when I have to put the majority of my focus elsewhere, yet I want to keep my hands busy. This pattern is extremely simple, but makes a nice texture. The yarn is Pagewood Farms Chugiak in Army Girl. There is some odd pooling that looks a bit like tiger stripes, but I’m just going to go with it. The yarn is nice, but has a ton of twist in it. I suppose that might help the socks last longer in a 100% merino yarn, but it’s occasionally annoying while knitting. I’m altering these to go toe-up, and I’ll do my usual heel flap.
I am super excited to be on Ravelry’s front page for my Kit Camisole the past couple of days!
My Waterlily is on the blocking board! I finally had some quiet time to sit down and think about the kitchener and neck. Pictures soon.
I like those socks a lot! I am a big fan of army green, and the pooling looks a little bit like military fatigues I think. I saw you on the Ravelry front page! You’ve officially hit the big time 😜
Congratulations on hitting the front page! I avoided knitting Hermione socks for ages because they were everywhere but it is an excellent design for adding some minimal-focus texture and works well with all sorts of colours. I like the way yours are shaping up.
Congrats on the front page! Your tank is beautiful! Love your socks too. I haven’t tried toe-up socks yet…I think it might be about time.
That’s awesome you’re on the front page!
I just finished a pair of socks in that pattern too. So simple but so satisfying.
Love the socks! Congrats on making the Ravelry blog–for once I was ahead of the times and saw the pictures on your blog first! 🙂
Very cute socks! Love the color and congrats!
I love the pattern – it is one of my favorites!!
It was so exciting to see you on the front page of Ravelry. Congrats on that! Also, the socks are darling, they’ve made me almost want to embark on my own inaugural pair… almost.
I wear my Everyday socks all the time! I have been debating another pair and I think I might have to knit some now. The pooling is a little funny, but maybe also a little camo stripy?
I just finished a pair of Everyday socks yesterday. I also did toe up with an afterthought short row heel. What kind of heel do you normally do? Congrats on the front page. I saw that your design was there the other day and got excited for you.
