I love knit alongs. They come with a feeling of community and connection to people far away. They inspire me to stay on track and complete a project in a timely fashion. And best of all, they give me a lot of knitting inspiration! Check out some of this gorgeousness on Instagram for the Tops, Tanks, & Tees Knit Along. I’ve participated in this knit along for the past couple of years and it’s a fun way to jump start spring and summer knitting. In 2014 I managed to do two projects! 
This year I settled on Talavera by Amanda B. Collins. It’s a lovely pattern from Pom Pom’s summer 2015 issue. Even though it’s so last year, I just felt compelled to make it.
I’m using Louet Gems Fingering in Teal. The top is not worn as shown above. I’m knitting from the bottom up, but I wanted a way to show off the lace, and pushing the top any further down on the dress form would have required some frantic work getting the lace back on the needles.
The pattern is great. The lace is fun to do and is almost easy enough to do while drinking wine at knit night. I did give up doing just that yesterday, and switched to a mostly stockinette top that I shall describe in more detail in another post. I’ve had to back track a few times when I was particularly distracted and chatty, so it’s good to have back up projects.
So far this is going quickly. I started it on Tuesday night and I should be able to finish in plenty of time for the knit along deadline (May 27th). Anyone else knitting along? What are you making?
When I saw the photo, I wondered where the arms were, lol! It’s gorgeous! I’m participating this year for the first time. I’m knitting the Kai tank (blogged here-http://www.nightowlnook.com/2016/05/knit-in-progress-kai-tank/). And, the forum is so much fun and so inspirational!
Here hee. I take socks to places where I need to knit, make eye contact, and imbibe. Looks pretty.
Another way of trying something on before it’s finished – I use ribbon 1/4″ or 1/2″ – as a stitch holder – works really well
You had me at teal. It’s the color I got married in because I love it so much. Beautiful top.
How exactly does a knit-along work? Do you all know from the start what the pattern is and just have a deadline? I know there are quilt-alongs where it’s actually a mystery what you are working on. You get the instructions one step at a time and don’t know what the finished project will be until the last instructions come. Wondering if any of the knit-alongs worked this way.
This KAL has you pick your own choice of a tip, a tee, or a tank. I think the rules in this one are pretty loose. You can already have a project going. Adult or child knit.

Oh this is gorgeous and the colour is my favourite. Can you believe I don’t have a knitting project on at the moment, but seeing all this lovely work is really making my fingers twitch.
I love this teal! And I like how this lace is so feminine and modest but still has a bit of sexy and I embrace I am all woman vibes.
I gave this pattern in my queue – it looks like a great stash buster for a couple of skeins of luxury 4 ply yarn. I’ll be really interested to see how it turns out.
I stopped doing KALs because I got all stressed. But now that you mention “in a timely fashion” and since I stopped doing KALs I’ve got UFOs languishing, perhaps I’ll consider joining one. But just one. That was my past problem: I joined all the KALs. I’m just so all or nothing, black or white, blue or green (I need to find my teal place).
Oh! Joining all of the KALs would stress me out. I mostly do this one, the summer sweater KAL, and occasionally Socktober, and NaKniSweMo. The last two I didn’t even attempt this year.
That’s such a great color! I love the lace pattern, and I’m sure it will be a great little top. I’m having a lot of fun joining in this KAL this year-I’m working on Make Up Your Mind, and I’m about 6 inches from the armholes!
