bulletproofYou all know I like socks, right? If you’ve read this blog for more than the last five minutes you might have come across at least one of the 100 or so posts I have that mention socks and sock yarn. Really love them. Well, I was offered the chance to try out some Sweet Georgia Bulletproof Sock and I’ve fallen hard for this yarn. It comes in amazing colors, and it is so crazy smooth and shiny. The yarn is a blend of superwash merino, silk, mohair, and nylon and there are 437 yards per skein, making this a light fingering weight yarn. I’m knitting it up on US 0’s, which is really the only way I knit socks. The color shown above is Riptide. I’m also lusting after Cayenne, Dutch, Fern, Glacier, Birch, and Auburn. The color selection has a pleasant mix of stunning, semi-solids, “colourwashed,” and wilder variegated colorways. If you go to their page you can sort these as you prefer, and they even have a sorting feature that organizes them into gradients. As a previous library graduate assistant, my inner and thriving reference geek was very pleased.

I’ve heard of Sweet Georgia Yarns before, especially the Tough Love line, but I’d never come across them in person. When they offered to send me some to review I was really looking forward to it and knitting with this yarn has exceeded all of my expectations. I was a little wary of the mohair, since sometimes I can be sensitive to that fiber, but so far it hasn’t bothered me a bit. This yarn knits up beautifully and I just want to cuddle it. I keep trying these on to feel my feet in the perfectly smooth wooly pockets. bulletproof-2As soon as I started knitting with this, I knew I had to turn it into a new sock pattern because I wanted to treat my feet to something nice, and I want to learn if this yarn lives up to its name. Though I almost never post about patterns ahead of time, I decided to risk it. When I release the pattern I will be giving away a free copy of the pattern and Sweet Georgia has generously offered to give away a skein of Bulletproof sock to go with it! Start drooling over the colors now…

I can’t wait to put it to the test and wear these. I really hope they will be bulletproof, because they feel amazing.

*This is not a paid post, but I was offered the yarn to review gratis by Sweet Georgia Yarns.
