This post has me beyond excited. Firstly, I’ve written on this blog long enough to have 600 posts now! Holy cats. I can’t quite believe it. Secondly, I have a new sock pattern to release called Chevrolicious. Thirdly, there is a giveaway.Β The lovely folks at Sweet Georgia Yarns are going to give a skein of Bulletproof Sock (color of your choice) and I’m going to give away a pattern to go with it. Β Hell yes.
Β I fell in love with this Bulletproof Sock as soon as I cast on toes for these socks. It feels incredibly silky and smooth. I can’t wait to wear them when the weather gets cooler.
Chevrolicious is a unisex sock pattern written in three sizes. The smallest size can accommodate women’s feet in a narrow width. The medium size is appropriate for women’s medium width sizes, and the large will work for most men’s medium width sizes. The chevron pattern is pretty easy to memorize, but just in case I’ve provided a chart and written pattern for each size. While the width is set by the pattern, you can make the length completely customized to the wearer’s foot. Helpful measurements include knowing the length from the toe to front of ankle and from the toe to heel. I have sneakily made socks for friends by looking at handy charts like this that at least give total foot length. My town has really cool storm drains to remind people that what goes down them ends up in the streams. I knew I had to take some sock photos on this one and I think I probably got some odd looks as I was outside taking pictures of my feet from all angles! This sock is written from the toe up. You can do them two at a time if you like, but this time I wrote the instructions in a way that they can easily be done one at a time as well. I’m making all of my patterns 25% off for a limited time to celebrate my 600th post, so use HAPPY600 at checkout to apply the discount!
Comment below and name your favorite Bulletproof Sock color and what you would knit with it (doesn’t have to be this pattern). If you use Ravelry, please put your Ravelry ID in the comment. I will pick a winner by Friday at 8pm Central time!
Love the new pattern! As for the yarn color: Smitten!! I would make a small shawl OR socks . . . so hard to decide π I’m mlittlefield on ravelry.
Beautiful sock and riptide is a beautiful color! I am partial to toe up so I would definately knit this! GinnyG on Ravelry
Beautiful sock and love the yarn! Congrats on the 600th post!
Love those socks! I would probably be knitting some socks with evergreen π
Congratulations on 600 posts! I like the English Ivy colorway, and I would knit a patterned sock with it. alcrews on Ravelry
I love the Riptide colorway! As far as a pattern, I’d probably make this one–I absolutely love it!
So many great colors! I don’t know how I would choose, but I really like Cherry and Nightshade. I’d love to try out your new pattern with one of those colors of Bulletproof. Congrats on 600 posts! That is awesome!
My Rav ID is klsimm
I love knitting socks. As soon as 1 pair is done, another pair goes on the needles! I really love the passion fruit & honeyfig! My ravelery name is tansmith.
Cherry is to die for…next favorite is English Ivy. So many pretty colors! Thanks for hosting the giveaway! π I like Sweet Georgia yarns, but have not tried this base. I’d probably knit a pair of socks with the yarn…maybe Xanthophyll. Rav Id is katiemetzroth.
I would knit either a pair of socks or a little shawl (maybe hitchhiker) with the petal colorway! So gorgeous!!!
Hi! What a wonderfull pattern! I’d like to try it some day! I usually use your pattern Summer slice, so easy to follow as a francophone! Well, for the give away, I like the pattern Appia from Hilary Smith Callis, it’s a large cowl, really nice… Grape Jelly is my favorite color in Bulletproof sock yarn. By the way, my ID on Ravelry is trilaine. Thanks!
Beautiful pattern. If chosen, I’d honestly make these socks with the yarn (favorite color is by far Mint Julep – it looks so bright and cheerful!). I’m always looking for a simple sock pattern that’s classic yet easily knit up – this will definitely fit the bill. cee1225 on Ravelry.
I really like this pattern – Chevrolicious and would love to knit it in the color Tea Party.
On ravelry: pamelaric
You are such a generous person, Cassie. I went to check the colors and I LOVE Nightwatch. It is luscious. I like the new pattern. I am cozyknitting on Ravelry.
Melon! And I would make socks – I really love your new Chevrolicious pattern, gotta try it!
I’m sarahinskeep on Ravelry π
Oh! And that’s really neat about the storm drains in your town! The one in your pics is gorgeous!
This looks like a fun pattern and I think Tumbled Stone would be a great color that would go with a lot of things and show off the pattern well.
I love tapestry, and I’d make your new sock pattern with it. AnneBeanVA on Ravelry
I have been knitting for over 10 years but am just now becoming a sock-knitter. So I don’t know which pattern, but I’d make myself a pair of socks (so far my socks have all been for other people!). Almost too difficult to choose just one color but if pressed, it would have to be Grapefruit or Beach House!
I’m katereynolds on Ravelry.
I thin auburn is my fav color…and let’s be honest, I would probably make these socks!
I’m marthaflorence on Ravelry
I love the Wisteria colourway. I would have to make some socks with this after your last 2 posts. Happy 600th!!!!!
Lindamac79 on Ravelry
Congratulations on your 600th post – great job.
Checked out the gorgeous colours – I don’t know how you pick just one! My favourite colour would have to be passionfruit followed closely by celery then cherry then saffron…you get the idea they are all pretty π As for the pattern perhaps your new pattern or I have knitted hermonie before but all my sock knits to date have been for other people.
my ravelry name is VickiAA
Fun fun! I like the “At the Ballet” colorway. I would knit vanilla socks. It would be great to try Sweet Georgia yarn… I’ve wanted to for a while! MopLover on Ravelry.
Good grief, how on earth could anyone narrow it down to one of those colours?! On first looks, English Ivy leaps out the most for me, I think… although if I looked again at another time or in another mood, I’d probably pick a different one! I would definitely knit socks with it; I’m slightly addicted to knitting socks. Your new pattern is going straight in my Rav favourites! (geekygoth on Ravelry).
I love the colour you’ve knitted, actually! My favourite would have to be English Ivy. Or riptide. And I’m not even letting myself look at the dark purples because I knit so much in those colours already. I’m loving hand-knit socks, so something beautiful for my feet. On ravelry I’m medstudentsews.
I always enjoy reading your blog, keep up the good work! I’d love to knit your new sock pattern in the Grouse colorway. Ravelry ID: chwatsonjr
I love the gelato colorway and I would maybe knit these socks if they would look good in a speckled yarn. They probably would? So so gorgeous! Congrats!
Ravelry is sisterlylove
Oxblood! And I’d knit these socks, Chevrolicious. I’ve used your heel flap on other socks before and I love how it fits. I love the textured design of Chevrolicious. (I’m also soknitsome on Ravelry)
Congratulation! It’s hard to choose between Wisteria and Lilac, I fell in love to both colors. I am witchym on Ravelry. (I’m from Germany but have a post address in USA too π
Happy 600! English Ivy is to die for. I’m the artfulgardener on Ravelry. I would love to make your Chevrolicious socks with this yarn!
Congrats with your 600th post ! And with your new pattern, it looks awesome !
I would love to see how these look in the bloodorange colourway π
( poesie on rav )
Gongrats on the 600 posts! I’d love to test Bulletproof Sock in the color Wasabi. It would definitely be knit into a pair of socks but there are soooo many patterns to choose from. π
The yarn looks wonderful…thinking I like the “Salt Air” color. Since I’ve never tried toe-up socks, I would love to try your new pattern. I’m ThreadedLane on Ravelry. Thanks!
Wow – 600 posts? You go girl! And cool socks to boot. Love the pattern, and I suspect that is what I would knit with my cherry red bulletproof amazing yarn. I much prefer toe up socks, so think I would enjoy this pattern. I’m Salpal1 on Ravelry and sure hope I win!
(I say cherry red because I need some new red socks, but I think in the end I would have a very hard time choosing my color – so many pretty ones!)
How do you pick a favorite color? There are so many great ones! I like most of the blues and greens, so I guess my favorite is Sea Spray. Thanks for the chance. I am emcknits on Ravelry.
Honey fig… or cherry… or rosebud… or grapefruit… THERE ARE SO MANY!!!!!
Congrats on the 600th, well done π
Congrats on 600! That’s insane, what an accomplishment. I am a sock girl myself, so I think I would have to make some socks with the blood orange colorway. Yum.
Congratulations on 600 posts!
My favorite colorway is Smitten, and I think it would make a delightful slouchy hat or a lacy scarf.
I’m SapphireStitch on Ravelry.
While I have lots of sock patterns favorited on Ravelry, I’d knit up your Chevrolicious pattern (I always like to knit up the original pattern first… then branch out) and in the spirit of branching out, I’d pick Wisteria since I haven’t yet knit a pair of purple socks. RavID = barkersumpter
Congratulations on 600 posts! The socks are absolutely gorgeous and if I don’t win them, I will definitely purchase the pattern. The color I would choose is Empress and my Ravelry name is ftlsweetie. Thank you for the opportunity of a giveaway and a discount π
Oh those socks are so pretty! Picking a favorite color of the yarn is like picking a favorite book or food or…. Really difficult! I would have to pick ‘Hush’ just because I’ve not seen that sort or grey-blue color before in yarn. It makes me think of old clapboard houses by the beach, and rocky cliffs and the salt spray. If I won, I can’t say what I would knit out if it because all I can think of is designing a pattern for it. Although if I had to pick something already in existence, I would say the the Wildes Meer shawl. My Rav name is Kninernat. Thanks!
I mean ‘Mist’ where’s my brain at? More coffee must be needed…
There are a lot of stunning colors. I think I’d pick Nightshade and use them to knit Hourglass socks. Congratulations on your 600th post!
Congrats on #600!! After your first post about the gradient feature on the website, I’ve been looking at Aranami, http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/aranami-shawl, and wanting to use West Wind/Shoreline/Beach House/Sea Spray/and one more color. But really – sock yarn is for SOCKS!! I would have to knit your new pattern into a pair for me because I haven’t ever finished my first pair of socks (slated to be for me), and have since knit 4 other pair for friends/family. I have plans to knit jaywalkers and some basic stockinette (girl with purled toes!!) for me! I think Snapdragon or At the Ballet would be my favorite – for their names alone, but I would have to use Empress for Chevrolicious because I live in purple!! nellsbells77 on rav!
Orchid, Raspberry, Oxblood, Riptide, Nightshade, Black Plum… Do I really have to pick just one?!?!? π If I must I would choose Nightshade. Such rich and bold colors! If I didn’t knit Chevrolicious I would knit a shawl (no specific pattern in mind yet). I’m beckb on Ravelry but haven’t been very active lately although I’m still knitting and crocheting regularly!
Oh wow, congrats on 600 posts! Impressive! Let’s see, I think my favorite color is Pomegranate, and I’d love to try this pattern! Ravelry ID: wildcatspow. Thanks for the giveaway!
Oh boy! So many colors! I would choose Grapefruit or Lovestruck, and I would knit a pair of socks for myself with them. I’d love to knit them in your new pattern! My rav id is HowzaMama.
I would use glacier to do this chevron pattern but I work toe down.
Ravelry kallielawson
Congratulations on the 600th post. I would love to knit your socks in Raspberry,or maybe Lovestruck or possibly Ivy. Ah well, too many choices so little time, I’d “settle” for Raspberry.
Love the new pattern and the gorgeous colors of yarn. Auburn is my current liking but they are all beautiful
Ravelry – AKADragonfly
Oh man! There are so many amazing Sweet Georgia colours to choose from! But if I have to pick just one, the Deep Cove jumped out at me. My Ravelry username is schbeckys. Also, I love your pattern. It’s hard to find patterns that are interesting, yet subtle enough that it would be a suitable sock for a man.
I love knitting socks with bulletproof yarn! My name on ravelry is DebbieAnson I love all the colors !!! Haven’t tried rockwater yet!
seriously fell down the rabbithole… love snapdragon, but then there is lemon curd, but oh, tea party, pheonix rising and fig! but then blood orange!!!! wowsa! so, yea, they are all pretty shiny!!
i am a socks gal…
ilovetea2 on Rav
What a cool pattern! Would look great in raspberry, I think. Ravelry: superrunt
Grape Jelly was my favourite and I made socks Rushing Tide pattern.
Love all the colors, but if I have to choose one, it would be blood orange. I am just getting into knitting socks and really love the new pattern. You can find me on Ravelry as jkmacbog.
Crushing on the Raspberry color! Definitely would make a pair of socks but would have spend some time browsing patterns to see which one this color inspires me to make. I’m AEGA on Ravelry.
Congrats for 600 posts and a new pattern! What an amazing accomplishment! I love the coral rose colorway and they would definitely be socks. I think a basic 2×2 rib to really show off the color of the yarn
Gorgeous new pattern! My favorite color in the bulletproof sock is Silver. I would knit a pair of socks from my ravelry queue. I’m cailanw on Rav.
I love the Hummingbird colour way and I would definitely use it for socks. I’m crafty-crusader on Rav.
Cloudbreak is my favorite but it is definitely difficult to narrow it down to just one color. Love your posts and look forward to 600 more!
You go you on crankin’ out this nice sock pattern. Its subtle chevrons are fun and zippy. The color of this yarn is wonderful.
col22. Colour way Passionfruit. Agatha Socks by NHK. I was going to knit yours and will but when I saw this colour and pattern together I loved it.
Such a hard choice! I’d have to choose Tea Party and I’d totally use it for these socks!
I LOVE snapdragon, and storm chaser, and Stella, …….. The list goes on. I would like to make socks that would brighten my patients day. They like anything that takes their minds off chemo and feel a little normal again.
Riptide, deep cove, coral rose! So many favourites! Very cute socks!
I’m quite attracted to the Honey Fig. I’ve been looking for a variegated skein to make the Close to You shawlette. Lovely pattern by the way. Thank you for the giveaway.
Sorry, I forgot my Rav ID is ramonafirehorse
I love so many of the colours. I like smitten and mulberry. I think I would make a shawl or the chevon socks.
Ravelry ID: anniewest86
I would knit this new sock pattern of yours in Sapphire. Both yarn and sock pattern look fabulous.
Thanks,
Mckwill
Toe-up, my favourite way of knitting socks! I am an enthusiastic sock knitter and I have dozens of sock patterns in my Ravelry library. I’m partial to Coral Rose or Blood Orange. Bulletproof socks sounds luxurious, and I would love to try it. I’m beryllau on Ravelry.
I love Mirror Pond, and I would probably knit a light cowl OR a pair of socks. The latter I am rather new to π Congrats on 600 posts and hooray for the giveaway π
Chamomilla80 on Ravelry.
WoW beautiful! I think these are really pretty socks: pattern, yarn, color, perfect!
There are so many beautiful colors, I would choose a non-variegated one for sure. Still on my list is ruffalufagus and with my daughter turning 1,5 years soon I feel that I should hurry up by now π lol I sometimes wear my knitted socks in bed when it’s still to warm to wear them at daytimes, luckily I’m blessed with cold feet π
Barbara (ravID bar747)
So many gorgeous colour ways! I love at the ballet, but wasabi would make a fab beanie for hubby for Christmas. Ravelry katen2012
Wow! So many colors! I think my favorite is Mirror Pond, but I would make the Chevroliciouus socks and think I would want to use a solid or semi-solid. I’m making it my goal to use new to me yarns this year and socks make that an easy goal to meet. I can’t wait to cast on a pair of these!
Ryan
(Rav: Reebo95)
What a gorgeous sock pattern! Currently, I’m starting to think about baby knits as I’m expecting my first around Christmas time, so I’m super attracted to the Terra Firma colorway and would make this http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/newborn-vertebrae with it. (ravID adsundsmo)
Congratulations on 600 posts! I almost went down the rabbit hole looking at all the colors of the Bulletproof Sock Yarn, but I kept going back to Wasabi for Chevrolicious. If I were choosing colors for another project, I would need hours to decide!
I have not yet used Bulletproof Sock (Tough Love is my favourite sock yarn) and would love to cast on socks or a shawl. It’s embarrassing how long I spent looking at the colour swatches trying to choose just one. I want them all! I’m going to say Snapdragon because it makes me smile. Thanks for the opportunity to win. Ravelry name is miriamp.
My ravelry n add me is Misty4041. I love all the colors but if push came to shove then I would have to pick Smitten. The pattern Chevrolicious would be just the ticket. Congratulations on reaching 600!!
I love the Gelato colour (though honestly i love at least half of the colours immensely) of the bulletproof sock. I’ve been thinking about trying it out since you mentioned it last time and trying to come up with patterns to try it with, and I think I’d actually really love to see it knit up into your new sock pattern! My ravelry ID is sarcasmgirl
So hard to pick out just one colour! After a great deal of consideration I narrowed my choice down to snapdragon. Summer is on the wane and I want to be reminded of its lovely freshness by working with this yarn on a cold winter’s day!
My ravelry name is marsmi.
Love, love, love the sock pattern. Chevrons are so in – and now on socks too! These sokcs look so soft and comfy. I would pick empress because I am a purple “person.” I would love to make this into socks or a slouchy hat. My ravelry name is midufur.
Ravelry: janamaren.
You want ius to choose only one colour! That is outragious π I guess I’ll go with Orchard, or English Ivy or Mint Julep or one of the purple or … argh π too many choices. I would like to make a shawl for myself.
Hmmm…I would use these for my Dad, and would opt for either Charcoal or Bison, for verybusymonkeys Mr. Bates pattern (his foot is too big for your pattern unfortunately:)). This is a great giveaway, and congrats on reaching a milestone post (and a new pattern!).
I’m ready for a new sock pattern, so I’d try yours. And I’d love to try it in FERN.
RavID – slawson
My favorite color is Smitten! And I would make socks.
Queenofkings5
Wow! What a great achievement Cassandra! Congratulations! Chevrolicious is a beautiful pattern. I must say, I am a newbie in knitting socks. (So far, I made 3 pairs) Winning this contest, I would challenge myself in making one of your (easiest π ) socks pattern. There are so many beautiful colors, I would choose “nightshade”. It would be very different from the girly girl pink, purple and red colors that I always pick. – Johanne (Ravelry: creation3)
My daughter would love the mulberry. I have been wanting to try the Lotus and leaf pattern. I’m dawnedonme on ravelry
i like deep olive and i’d like to try knitting the bulletproof socks
Congrats on 600 posts! I’ve been following your blog for several years because of the quality of your writing, photos, and the projects/yarns you choose. I love these socks, especially the details on the heels. Thanks for doing this giveaway. If I won, I’d definitely choose the color Celery. My ravelry id is racheleilei.
Thanks so much for all of your creative ideas! I love to make this Chevrolicious pattern out of the Saltwater color. My Ravelry ID is dlwynne.
Ooh pretty! I think I like the Woodland color the best although there are so many good ones to choose from. I don’t knit socks often but I’d probably make it into a cowl!
Rockwater is my favorite color and Im a sock knitting guy so, would knit these socks as it’s a great looking pattern for both men and women. Excellent job! Griffk on ravelry
Oh just IMAGINE how that texture would show up if I used Dutch, or Sunshine! Those colour will bring such joy on the approaching long days of winter.
Nightwatch is a great color and your chevron pattern looks wonderful.
Congrats on your blog as well. Please take a bow.
I would choose the Pumpkin colourway! I’ve been dreaming about trying that colourway for so long!! π I would definitely knit socks with it, and the Chevronlicious would be a great choice! Thanks man for th chance to win!
Congrats on your 600th post!!! You truly are an inspiration a mama, avid knitter and pattern writer who knit her way through a dissertation and now a working woman who still manages to crank out awesome posts!!!! I’ve never knit a toe up sock, but I love the chevron in your new pattern would definitely try that with the storm chaser colorway!
You taught me to make my very first pair of 2-at-a-time-toe-up socks years ago. I love this chevron sock pattern, but I’m always searching Ravelry (vsbanotto) for patterns. The Saffron color is killer!
