As the temperature flip-flops my knitting interests swiftly change. When it was gorgeously warm a few weeks back I was hanging at my LYS and decided that some of the new Ella Rae Rustic Silk that Cynthia got in stock should become a summer top for me. I had initially picked out a yellow-green color, but after taking it home and checking it out I decided it wouldn’t be flattering. I went back and swapped it for this color, Shenandoah.

So far this is a lot of Stockinette on a circular needle, aka, movie theater knitting. This project has accompanied me to Love, Simon so far, and we loved Simon indeed. It may seem borking to have so many projects that require very little thinking, as I often do. For me the primary purpose of knitting is relaxation with a side benefit of making awesome clothes with my own two hands. This project is very relaxing so far, though I got distracted from it a few times by hats, and the Pink Memories sweater.I do have to inspect the work from time to time since I’ve found a few spots where I split the yarn and didn’t knit the whole strand for a few stitches.

I’m starting to trust that it’s actually going to start being warm here (despite still needing a sweater today), so this top will continue to get a lot more action. The yarn feels very lovely as I’m knitting it and I can’t wait to wear it. I love that it does not seem like it will require a tank underneath, like many of my other spring and summer tops do. I think it’s going to feel great against my skin.

Now I just need to start fantasizing about the next summer top…
