While the weather has been up and down, I’ve been making some hats in the meantime. Since these are the exact same pattern, I thought it best to just stick them in the same post. Both hats are made using the Erie Hat pattern. It’s wonderful, relaxing knitting. Each of these hats were present for dark movie theater knitting and the second one also came along for some psychotherapy continuing education lectures.

This hat I posted about in an earlier blog entry. It’s Madelinetosh DK in Filigree. I adore this color. In the light in these photos I think it looks especially good with my hair color. This is also the one that Matt is most likely to try to steal for himself on a regular basis.

Knowing that, and being at my LYS when the hat came to a close with no back up project in my purse, I just bought more yarn in the same weight and cast on another Erie Hat.

This yarn is Baah Shasta in the color Dragon Tail. Their yarns come in lots of fun speckled colors, but this one was calling out to me, so I wound it up and cast it on immediately. I’m not disappointed.

Both of these hats are soft and have just the right amount of snug-but-not-smooshing-hair factor along with a reasonable amount of slouch. I may have made them about a half an inch longer than required by the pattern, but otherwise I stuck to it.

The weather has turned for the warmer, so my hope in soon wearing warm weather knits has renewed and I’m back at the Brandilyn Top and have active plans for what comes after that.
