Technically it’s still definitely spring, but in the last two weeks our weather in Arkansas has moved firmly into early summer temperatures and seems to be staying there. Luckily, this new silk Brandilynn Top does not require a layer underneath and is perfect for this weather.
I used Ella Rae Rustic Silk in Shenandoah. I used just under 2 skeins for the 40.75″ size. I think I added a little bit of length to the body (about an inch), but otherwise made no changes. I really like the feeling of wearing it, and it swishes delightfully in the breeze while riding a bike downhill. That’s a nice litmus test for a summer top for me. The way it feels while riding a bike. I love the breezy feel of silk and linen blends in the summer.
I love the feel of this top. I definitely recommend this yarn. I love the speckled look, but I wish it also came in solids. I could see myself making a few more warm weather tops, or lightweight multi-season sweaters in this yarn. Anyone have favorite lightweight silk yarns they love? Please recommend some if you like in the comments below.
Back to knitting! That second summer top (aka Kinton Top) isn’t going to knit itself…
Great fit on you!
That top is SO pretty, I love the cap sleeves!
that looks lovely! The yarn is beautiful!
You know, you can always over dye it to a solid if you don’t like the colors it comes in. 🙂
It is gorgeous, well done!
What a great top! It looks great! I need to make 2 or 3 summer tops – I have the yarn, I’m just looking for the right patterns, but so far nothing has jumped out at me. I might have to try this one, though – you did a great job!
