I’ve been working on Tarmac from the Summer 2018 edition of Pompom Quarterly. It lightly rests on my body when tried on, worked in lightweight fingering cotton/wool blend. I think it will be my lightest weight knitted summer top yet that also does not require a tank top underneath. Very much a bonus during a southern summer. The yarn is YOTH Best Friend in Mint and Vanilla.

This pattern is well written so far, and it’s nice to get the straps out of the way first and get to rounds and rounds of stockinette as the pattern progresses. This yarn is delicately soft and feels great to knit. The pattern sample has more contrast in the colors shown, but when I was choosing this yarn both Z and I felt strongly like this was the right set of colors for me. The pattern sample also shows two different additional colors alternated in the i-cord bind off, but I decided to keep the cost lower by using leftovers of one of the colors I already have, likely mint. These skeins have generous yardage (550 yards!) so I don’t anticipate any issues having enough left over.

The length of the pattern as written is shorter than I would typically wear. I will likely try it on when I reach the specified length and see how it looks.

For now it is a soft and summer friendly knit I’m enjoying. I think I might cast on a fall sweater next week though…. For some reason I’m really aching for cold weather knits already. I think I miss the wool fumes.
