Progress on Marshal continues. I’ve done many pieces since I first posted about it exactly a month ago. I started with the sleeves, then moved to the back, then the left front. The pattern suggests blocking the left front before moving on to the right front to make sure the button holes accurately align with button placements. Since I knew I would be waiting over a day for that piece to dry, it seemed time to go back to the pieces suggested in the beginning of the pattern: the pockets and the collar.

Really, I’m just knitting this thing in any ol’ damn order I want to and it’s coming out just fine. That’s the fun of knitting in pieces! I am really loving the way this is coming together and I have a major crush on all of the pockets, especially the adorable little (probably useless) sleeve pocket. I suppose I could hide a tiny note, or flash drive (do people still use those?) or piece of gum in there.

I really love this Brooklyn Tweed Loft and Shelter in Embers. It feels so light and fluffy. I do work about the potential armpit felting factor, but that’s for another day. Any of you out there with sweaty armpits that eventually felt your lovely handknits? Well I have that issue with close fitting armpits and the inevitable underarm friction that comes from being a human. I believe there will be enough ease in these arms to help avoid that, but it’s still a possibility.

Ok, back to working on the collar for this. And a sweater for Zooey. And socks for Charlotte. And the Foldlines sweater for me. And a baby blanket for a friend. And socks for me.

I think I can stay busy with knits for awhile. Stay tuned.
