How about this endless parade of kid socks? This year I made kid socks for the turning 6 year olds of some of my friend’s kiddos that have birthdays in September and October. I used to knit sweaters and hats for them when they were smaller and the sweaters were fast. This year I decided to undertake socks because it’s been a couple of years since I knit anything for them.
This delightful green gradient pair was made from some leftover greens from a SweetGeorgia Party of Five set in Snapdragon that I used on an Elemental pullover that I finished a couple of years ago. It turned out to be just the right amount for a kiddo that doesn’t like socks to go much higher than the ankle. His mom said he wore them for a few days straight after receiving them. That really warms my heart.
The pattern is my own, Kiddo Kicks. Though I put sizing in the pattern, I usually just ask the parents what size feet the kid has and look up how many centimeters long that is on a shoe size chart. I like to go metric with socks because I feel like it’s more precise. Really, I’d just like the United States to go metric already, but I don’t see that happening anytime soon.
More socks to come!
Aw
They look so cute! I love the colour changes, were they from a miniskein set? I hear you on the metric system – we have it here, but sometimes inches (and foot!) can be so confusing, because it’s anything “from-to”.
They were from a miniskein set. When I looked online I didn’t see it available still, but they should all be available as full size skeins too.
