I am immeasurably pleased to show off Foldlines. This sweater was a pleasure to knit, and so far it’s also wonderful to wear. I used Kelbourne Woolens Scout in Mint Heather for this project. This color makes my retinas happy. Or my cones and rods. Or whatever part of my eye registers color to send to my brain. I love it. I’d never used this yarn before and it seems like a great substitute for Brooklyn Tweed here, and has a great price point.
The texture of the pattern was really engaging. After finishing the back portion I was pretty well able to see the pattern as I was knitting it and look at the chart less. This pattern is by Norah Gaughan and she is a genius. The suggested ease for this pattern is something like 10″. Nah. I went with about 4-5″ of ease with the 42.5″ size and I’m glad I did. I think a little less ease is flattering, and when I wore this for a bit without an under layer, it was slightly breezy. I think 10″ of ease would make that even more so.
My sleeves unintentionally ended up a little longer than I (and the pattern) planned, but they can be worn draped over the lower palm a bit, or folded back if that’s too warm. I like the flexibility of it. This was my first time to knit a drop shoulder sleeve. Sometimes I see those in a pattern and think they look like bat wings (which is not bad if that’s what you’re going for). I didn’t want a ton of extra material under the armpit. I think this pattern does the drop shoulder-ness very well.
All in all, I’m overjoyed to have this sweater in my rotation. I think it’s going to make me happy for years to come.
Hello:
Absolutely adorable!!!!
This is such a gorgeous pattern and in that colour!!! Bam! Nailed it. I think you went with just the right amount of ease, the fit is perfect on you.
Wow, the texture!!!! The color!!! Simply amazing π
That sweater is amazing!!
it’s genius! I love your enthusiasm and wow–you did such a beautiful job!!
This sweater is SO gorgeous– I love your happy version!
What a GORGEOUS sweater! Love the color and the pattern!
I adore the color and the pattern. Super pretty!
Wow, what a color. The stitch pattern is great.
What a beauty! The color is so great on you and the pattern makes me think of snowflakes at this time of year. Congrats on a job well done.
It looks great on you! The colour suits you really, really well. 10″ of positive ease is … WOW. I think 4″ is a lot alread (this is totally me), but it does make for a very, very cosy sweater!! It looks as if it has waist shaping, is that hidden within the pattern, or at the sides?
There is no waist shaping. I just followed the pattern on this one, though I usually stick some in.
Ah okay! Thank you for clarifying that. It drapes very nicely, that’s why I thought so. π
Wow! It looks great on you! You got the perfect amount of ease.
This is gorgeous! And I know what you mean about greens…I wore a cowl neck vest under another sweater a few mornings ago and you could barely tell they were separate garments, the colors were so similar π
Beautiful!
That turned out amazing… How much yarn did you actually use? The 690 or the 1500?? I’m asking because I have some handspun I want to use and am trying to match it to a pattern…
I havenβt weighed out what I have remaining to be exact, but I would guess that it was at least 1500 yards based on what I have left.
Thanks
Ever since I started knitting, a knitted sweater has been on the top of my to do list. I have not had the courage to do it yet. π This. Inspires. Me. π thank you.
That color is simply beautiful! The stitch pattern goes really well with that color! This is so inspiring for me to get started on a sweater for my daughter.
This is so gorgeous! I absolutely love the color you used and it looks amazing in Foldlines stitch pattern. And I think you got the perfect amount of ease!
