I am immeasurably pleased to show off Foldlines. This sweater was a pleasure to knit, and so far it’s also wonderful to wear. I used Kelbourne Woolens Scout in Mint Heather for this project. This color makes my retinas happy. Or my cones and rods. Or whatever part of my eye registers color to send to my brain. I love it. I’d never used this yarn before and it seems like a great substitute for Brooklyn Tweed here, and has a great price point.

The texture of the pattern was really engaging. After finishing the back portion I was pretty well able to see the pattern as I was knitting it and look at the chart less. This pattern is by Norah Gaughan and she is a genius. The suggested ease for this pattern is something like 10″. Nah. I went with about 4-5″ of ease with the 42.5″ size and I’m glad I did. I think a little less ease is flattering, and when I wore this for a bit without an under layer, it was slightly breezy. I think 10″ of ease would make that even more so.

My sleeves unintentionally ended up a little longer than I (and the pattern) planned, but they can be worn draped over the lower palm a bit, or folded back if that’s too warm. I like the flexibility of it. This was my first time to knit a drop shoulder sleeve. Sometimes I see those in a pattern and think they look like bat wings (which is not bad if that’s what you’re going for). I didn’t want a ton of extra material under the armpit. I think this pattern does the drop shoulder-ness very well.

All in all, I’m overjoyed to have this sweater in my rotation. I think it’s going to make me happy for years to come.
