The matching pink sweater saga continues with one for me. I swear, I do knit other things, but my knitting world has been swathed in pink for some time now. This time I decided to follow the pattern for So Faded with the same colors I had for the girls.
I had to vary things slightly because it was important to me to use all of the same kind of yarn, Mad Tosh Twist Light, to avoid variations in thickness that I encountered with my first So Faded. I had some French Toast in Twist Light, but it was knit up as a pair of socks that was a bind off away from being done. No problem. I decided it was more important to put it in a sweater so I ripped it back to just a ball of yarn with the help of my kiddos. We had fun.
It was bugging me that one sock was far more purple/blue than the other anyway. It can be very satisfying to be ruthless with knitting.
After that I had enough yarn for the So Faded. From top to bottom the colors are Voodoo faded into French Toast faded into Beach Bonfire faded into Voodoo again. Since these are all hand dyed yarns, there can be massive variations in dye lots. The Voodoo at the top was left over from the sweaters I made for Z and C. I loved it and it’s bolder cousin below so I just decided to use both in different places as if they were separate colorways.
What about that accidental negative ease? Ah, well. As I was approaching the ribbing on the body working from the top down, I looked around to make sure I had my smaller needle available. It turned out that I had been using the smaller needle for the entire body already. Oops. It was a real facepalm moment. The sweater still fits, though with more body skimming than I was planning. This is all superwash yarn, so I’m pretty sure it will loosen up a bit with some blocking. Fun, fun.
Now I just need to finish that second sleeve…
Oops! But as you say I am sure it will be fine.
It is beautiful, love the colors you chose for the fade.
