Today is my day off and I’m thrilled to get a little knitting in. I just started Copley by Julie Hoover yesterday during work and before sitting down to enjoy it today, I decided I should snap a picture and blog about it.
I love blogging and often my relationship to it ebbs and flows. I do miss the days when I was devouring my favorite blogs when I had downtime at my graduate assistantship position. When I found a blog I loved, I’d often go back to the beginning and start there, delighting in watching the progress and absorbing much about a human being I might never meet in real life. Though most of the blogs I read are about knitting, there are always many touches of the complete human experience that shine through. I’m a psychotherapist during most of the week now, and I get to immerse myself in human experience with clients that I really love, often starting back at the beginning for them as well. However, that takes a lot of brain space and I don’t get to dive into blogs with the same fervor, or interact on my own blog in the comments as much as I’d like because of course all of the rest of life is there waiting too. I truly appreciate the interactions and those seem to happen more on Instagram these days. This blog continues to be a satisfying way to memorialize one part of my life and that keeps me going. I need a place to delight in all the nerdy delicious details of the knitting world with words. Thanks for being a part of that.
I came across Copley on Instagram (the source of most of my knitting enabling these days) and it was love at first sight. Then I went ahead and looked at the available colors of the yarn, Lantern by Purl Soho, and there was no doubt in my mind once I saw this color. Pink Salt. This yarn is a cotton linen blend. It’s unique and tweedy, but a bit ropy. I’m curious to see how it will feel with washing. I plan on making Copley mostly as specified, making the second size up. I’m toying with omitting the sleeves because Arkansas has hot summers and I might be more likely to wear it sans sleeves. I’ve got plenty of inches to knit before I have to choose that.
Oddly enough, I have another summer knit that I haven’t blogged about at all, Mirage, that’s now so close to being done it seems silly to do a post about it right before the finished object post. Soon!
In other news, if you follow along on Instagram you will have seen some new fluffy family members chez Dominick. We’ve had them for just two weeks and they’re ridiculously cute. The grey one is Olivia and the orange one is Marshmallow. He has some extra digits on his front paws, not pictured here. A vet in Eureka Springs rescued a stray cat and she happened to be pregnant. I highly recommend them if you’re in the area. I can tell Dr. Pike is an incredible animal lover. We felt so lucky to hear about these kittens and look forward to watching them grow up.
OMG they are soooo cute ❤️
Gorgeous kitties! May your yarn be safe and your curtains unshredded!
Oh, adorable!!! And funny, a friend of mine just got a little gray and orange kitten and named it Olive. So close!
How old are your kittens? They are so cute and love their names. We have kittens going on 10 weeks tomorrow. My kids are in kitten bliss.
That’s awesome! These kitties were born on March 23rd, so they’re right around 9.5 weeks now. We are all loving them so much. I do wish they wouldn’t decide to wrestle on the bed promptly at 5:00 am so often… Our old house has some large door gaps and they can squeeze under them even if we lock them out!
