Every time I think it’s too hot to work on this Cumulus Blouse we have a colder day and I feel the motivation again. Last week we had 60 degree super rainy days, so I just keep going. So far I’m loving it.
The yarn is Shibui Silk Cloud in Cove. The pattern calls for two strands of lace weight yarn held double. I do find mistakes here and there that probably won’t be noticeable due to the fluffiness. Occasionally I can see where I’ve dropped one of the two strands and I go back and fix them when I can. That happens for me when I hold two strands doubled. I really noticed it in some spots on Carbeth, but it’s much less obvious with this project.
I’m making this almost exactly to the measurements for the small (40″) chest size. For a long time I made tops and sweaters several inches longer than the patterns typically called for, but now I’m developing a growing appreciation for slightly cropped tops or tops that end close to the top of pants. It’s nice to have some variety. I purchased 8 skeins, going off weight alone since the pattern listed yarn requirements in grams. I think I’ll end up using just 5 skeins.
This top is super soft and I can’t wait to wear it. I could have worn it in the movie theater seeing Booksmart with some friends last night, and I’m sure more opportunities in the summer will come. I highly recommend that movie if you’re looking for a good summer flick.
oooh, this pattern is in my queue, andI love how yours looks already! I also find that it’s easy to drop a strnad when held double, but at least mohari is sticky enough that it usually doesn’t go too far…
