My Mirage tank is finished and has already been worn a couple of times. I haven’t given it a wet blocking yet to smooth out the ends, as you can see in these pictures. I just gave it a quick steam and left the house. Right now the little wildlings (aka the kittens) are all over the place and I need a new good spot for blocking things. I’m sure I’ll figure it out soon enough.
This tank uses Shibui Fern and Shibui Silk Cloud. Both of these yarns are lovely. The Fern is light and soft. I’m interested to see how it wears over time. If it doesn’t pill excessively I can see myself using it for many summer tops. It’s sport weight and completely perfect for Arkansas heat. The Silk Cloud is light and airy and makes a nice accent at the bottom.
My only slight annoyance with this top is that the armhole is large enough to show some bra. I may pick up stitches along the edge and close it up slightly, or I may just forget about it and wear a dark bra with it. My only alteration to the pattern was to make the Fern part of the top about an inch longer and to make the Silk Cloud piece about an inch shorter. Otherwise I made no alterations.
More summer knitting coming soon! What are your favorite summer tees and tanks this year?
SO many tank tops have that big armhole thing!! It looks good though. Could wear a thinner tank underneath, or just a pretty bra. 😀
I think I need to just determine my perfect armhole depth and start altering future knits.
