The time for Very Shannon’s Summer Sweater Knit a Long is here! She does not yet have a fresh post about the dates for this year on her website, but she officially announced that August 5th would be the start date on her Instagram feed. The KAL goes for 6 weeks. I love participating in this KAL. It gets me excited for fall knits every year.
This year I decided to make League, by Veronik Avery. I’ve had it in my favorites for a couple of years. I wanted to use mostly stash if I could. It’s been almost two years since I was last at Rhinebeck and the majority of the Miss Babs yarn I bought there was giving me a hard stare, so I decided I would use some Keira. It’s a heavy fingering weight yarn that is so round and smoooth. I have 1,680 yards of two different colors that I got at Rhinebeck.
I’m going to go with some McHales (navy color) for the body, the Quicksilver (grey) for the tiny shoulder accent, and I ordered one skein of French Marigold (a lively orange) that will be for the sleeves. It was difficult to break up two sweater quantity’s worth of yarn for one sweater, so ordering a single skein for sleeves seemed like a good compromise. Then I will have almost 3 full skeins (about 1600 yards) left of the Quicksilver for another sweater. Here is a preview of the French Marigold pulled off of Miss Babs’ site.
The French Marigold is in the mail now, so I’ll post a new pic when I have all the colors present. I want to see them next to each other, because sometimes ordering online is slightly tricky. In my imagination it’s great. It’s going to be a fairly bold sweater. I really hope I like all of the colors together, but if I don’t I can always make something else! After all, I have six weeks….
I think it will look great. Definitely autmn-y! And the orange and blue will provide a bold contrast, sure, but I’d go for it. Good luck! 🙂
