I am working on other things, but the second Nightshift Shawl is oh so captivating. For this one I’m using many of the same Spincycle Fibers Dream State colors, but they look completely different.

The colors I’m using in order are Melancholia, Salty Dog, Robin Egg, The Family Jewels, Mississippi Marsala, and Rusted Rainbow. All but Robin Egg and The Family Jewels are repeated from the first Nightshift I made and they vary greatly. The Melancholia in this one is far more navy, and less turquoise in general. The Salty Dog is very similar, and the Mississippi Marsala and Rusted Rainbow in this shawl are much more red and jewel toned. In the previous shawl they had a lot more brown in each. It’s a color adventure for sure, and even with planning for the skeins colors in general, it’s really a surprise finding out how they co-mingle as the skein colors shift.

Hey, y’all. I did another swatch! Ha. I decided to go with a size 7 needle and definitely got the gauge. Nevertheless, I continue to doubt myself, but the size 8 was too loose and I feared running out of yarn. Instead, as I’ve gone further in the pattern I’ve added a few rows here and there to some sections when I felt confident I wouldn’t be sacrificing yarn that was needed in a future section. Knitting this for a second time comes with the advantage of knowing more about how the shawl will end up. I’m going to use as much of the yarn as I can since making that decision to color outside of the lines a little. I wish I’d expanded earlier sections by a few rows, but again I’m not willing to go back and add more. Forward march!

I’m at the last section in this photo and I’m going to block the hell out of this one as well. I’ll keep you posted!
