I’ve dreamed of knitted pants in the past and they will soon be a reality. The pattern is called New Pants in Town and I’m making them out of some Juniper Moon Farms Herriot Fine in Aquarium. The yarn is alpaca and a little nylon and is blissfully soft.

I’m making some minor mods, as usual. My gauge is close, but not quite there. I’m aiming for a small to medium size, but I made the waistband wider and I did fewer increases afterward. Right now these fit snuggly, but they are not uncomfortable in any way. I was a little nervous making a large garment in alpaca because I’ve heard that it has a tendency to lose some elasticity over time and it doesn’t bounce back as well as wool. With that thought, I made these on the zero ease side of things to account for some possible future stretching and/or drooping. I’m hoping the nylon helps keep things stable and almost every single time I make a superwash thing it grows a bit with blocking.

I think I will live in these when they are finished and I hope there is just a bit of cold weather left at that point to enjoy their coziness. I’m really loving this yarn and if it wears well and doesn’t stretch out like crazy I’d love to make a super cozy sweater with it. I also hope I have a little left for some kiddo pants…
