This is the knit I’m working on most right now. It’s the Striped Wedge Pullover by Frog & Cast, still. I’m a lot further along than these pictures show. I took them a couple of weeks ago and haven’t gotten around to blogging.
I’ve abandoned a lot of knitting right now for sewing. Gasp! I never really knew how to sew before, and after making masks for a bit I decided to try some garments. I’ve gone a little crazy with it. I need to get some better pics of finished objects, but if you’re curious about what I’ve been sewing, check out my Instagram for a taste.
Quarantine sucks, y’all. I know that I’m very very lucky to have a profession that gets to continue, mostly uninterrupted, and I’m extremely grateful for that. I’m a psychotherapist in my non-crafting life and most of my clients have been very cooperative about switching to video and phone methods. I really miss seeing clients (and everyone) in person, but I’m glad to be able to work. At home, my husband has been the primary caregiver for our two kiddos since a lot of his work involved travel and that’s come to a grinding halt right now. I’m grateful that he’s taken up that mantle and has been doing so well at it. He’s reorganized our house nearly top to bottom, created a great schedule for the kids, and even made a little foot/bike path around our tiny yard so that they have a place to run around safely during the day.
Knitting continues to provide soothing comforts, but sewing is winning out a bit these days. I like the mental challenge because it’s all so new. I get really frustrated with it, but then really satisfied when I figure something out. I think I’ve done about 10 garments so far. So FAST! I’ll try to do a big post one of these days to catch up about it.
So interesting that sewing has become your ‘go to’ craft of the moment. Looking forward to peeking on instagram shortly. I reckon if your hubby is good to look after the kids when you are working or crafting then you’ve got a great life! Only joking here – I am a Mum but the ‘looking after’ bit is a long time ago and I am not sure how I’d have coped during this lockdown !
Congratulations on your sewing-spree! I can imagine that you do it a lot now, it’s new, it requires a different kind of concentration and from what I have read, it’s super fast once the planning is done! Woot!
I’m happy that Matt puts in the bigger part of parenting now, it’s so nice that this doesn’t have to be a big point of discussion in every householt (I mean it SHOULD be the norm, but …).
The shirt looks great! I am curious to see how it will look when it’s done.
I hope you all stay well and that things will brighten up soon, it’s high time.
I love all your pockets!
Congratulations on the sewing! Going to pop over to insta to see what you have been upto. Yes it is way way faster than knitting! Both skills have their place.
It sounds like you and your husband have a great arrangement. What would we do without our hand crafts.
That is a cool pattern! And I’m with you on the sewing! Although I miss being able to easily restart if I did it wrong with sewing like I can with knitting. Definitely higher stakes.
