I continue to sew at home when I get large chunks of free time, and knit while I’m at work on phone or video sessions. Knitting is also super comforting at the end of the night when my brain is exhausted and I want to just relax. Lately sewing is what I turn to when I want to be mentally occupied or engaged in something that I put all of my energy into. I posted about this last week on my Instagram, but I wanted to post about it here to provide a few more details.

This outfit is a Gypsum skirt, view B, by Sew Liberated and an Ogden Cami by True Bias. For the skirt, I didn’t have the right fabric to do the one with pockets like Arenite Pants, view A in the pattern. I used some Purl Soho in Spectrum Cotton in Pacific Blue. I think this cotton seems like a wardrobe staple with a huge range of colors. I love the feel of it. I originally made this skirt in a size 12, following the recommended measurements. I made the elastic a little too big and had to rip open the waistband to pull it in. Then when I had that the correct size, the rest of the skirt looked too big, so I eventually ripped it all apart and redid the whole thing. This might have been different with a fabric with more drape, but for this cotton it just didn’t hang right at the larger size. I recut it as an 8 for the second time around and now I love it. I also took the length up just a teeny bit more. It was definitely worth redoing, because I know I wouldn’t have worn it without fixing it!

The Ogden Cami is made with some cotton from Fancy Tiger Crafts with little newspaper boats. I love the fun print and the yellow-orange pop of color. It’s a fun piece to wear. The print makes me happy. This won’t be the last Ogden you see from me. It’s going to be a wardrobe staple because it can be a standalone item in summer, or layered with sweaters and tees in colder weather.
