My motif work on Eventide is coming to an end! This has been my primary knitting during work and sometimes in the evening and I’m surprised that I’m as far along as I am at this point. I think I started this on July 13th and there are 70 full motifs and 10 half motifs in this size.

I’m making the smallest size, because my gauge is looser than the recommended yarn. This yarn is Miss Babs Keira in Quicksilver (main color), French marigold (orange) and McHale’s (navy). It’s sportweight instead of the recommended fingering weight specified in the pattern. The bonus to that is that I will do fewer motifs. Even though I did a swatch and washed it, I still worry that it will grow a bunch, but oversized is better than undersized here. I think I’m being paranoid anyway. DSC_3467

This project has been a joy to work on, especially since I’ve been working in the ends as I go. I would be dreading the end of this otherwise. I’m using this method, shown by Stephen West on Instagram, and knitting the grey strands doubled in some places to work in the ends from previous motifs as I went. I’m thrilled to be at this point in the process. I have 3.5 half motifs (that I might be done with had I not stopped to photograph and blog). The rest will be smooth sailing in comparison.

I’ve also recently been working on some Ripple Bralettes, but I need to get better photos of the finished ones. Those might end up being like socks for me…
