I am so excited about this knitting project. It’s my voting outfit, if I finish it in time for early voting and it’s cold on that day I want to go early vote. The sweater is called Dissent Pullover by Andrea Rangel. When Ruth Bader Ginsburg passed I was inspired to make something to honor her and this seemed like a beautiful piece to do it with. The Dissent Cowl is another great pattern for this, and proceeds for that pattern will be gifted to the American Civil Liberties Union until election day (November 3rd). A friend gifted me that pattern when she passed, but I wanted to start with a sweater.
This has been a shit show of a year, folks. If you live in the United States PLEASE VOTE (and please vote for Biden). It is incredibly important this year, more than ever before. I live in Arkansas and early voting starts on October 19th. If you have early voting in your state, do it! Or mail in your ballot if you are uncomfortable going to the polls. That is available in every state this year. If you can donate to close Senate races, do it. Or to the presidential campaign.
Back to this project: the yarn is leftover Miss Babs Keira in McHales that I used and some leftover Miss Babs Yummy 3-ply in Coos Bay. Technically the yummy 3-ply is just a wee bit thicker than the Keira, but not enough to not use it. I liked the way the colors work together and I turned my house upside down looking for the leftover 3-ply that I knew I had around somewhere. I finally found it in a project bag under some fabric scraps and weighed it and had just enough to make it work. Score!
I think I will make the length somewhere between the cropped and full length version. I’ll probably try it on with some high waisted pants when I get close to that point and see where it lands.
In Missouri here! Yes vote, vote, vote! Biden/Harris 2020 all the way. Time to get the narcissist tyrant out of our White House.
Hooray! I grew up in Joplin and my parents are still there. Go blue!
I live between Joplin and NW AR, right at the line. Unfortunately in the middle of Republican country.
Yes, so Republican in these parts! Maybe we can turn it blue one of these days. Definitely going to try!
Missouri here too! KC area & doing my part to turn us into a blue state! Love your sweater. I’m doing the cowl.
That will be perfect to wear and it says “Go Blue” all the way. I will vote in person during the early voting in my city (I am in Illinois) and I don’t care how long I might have to stand in line. It will be worth it to get rid of this administration. (Fingers crossed!)
I am so grateful for early voting! We have two weeks before election day to vote early here and I love that
I hope your fellow Americans hear what you say. It’s important to the entire world to get rid of the most un-presidential person to ever hold that office. Here in New Zealand we are consistently horrified by his words and actions.
I envy New Zealand for your fantastic leader ship so much! Can you put in a good word for me? Just in case this doesn’t head in a good direction…
Of course! 🙂 We’re having an election in a week or so and Jacinda is way out in front, according to the polls – thank goodness!
Go Jacinda! She kicks ass and will continue to do so!
This is a beautiful sweater!! I’m across the pond, keeping my fingers crossed for all of you. May the nightmare end soon! I can’t imagine what will happen if it doesn’t.
(By the way, today I saw someone on reddit say that Trump should maybe change his rally tune to “They’re coming to take me away HAHA” and … well, if you need a good laugh, go listen to it. 😉 )
Before you vote – wearing your Dissent pullover – stand in the superhero pose just outside the voting booth!! It will help!!
Also – yes! We all want to be closer to the Kiwi’s these days!! Please take us!!
Good call! Superhero pose it is!
Ha ha! I’ll do my best for all the knitters! 😀 :D:D
😁😁😁 I can provide therapy, make bread, and sew too! Of course, I bet you all don’t need therapy nearly as much as we do here!!!
I love that you knit election dat sweaters. That’s an excellent tradition. Your Dissent is beautiful, and I will be knitting on of the versions after my current WIP. I live in Oregon, which means I’ve been voting by mail for a long time. We need everyone empowered to vote this time.
This is my first Election Day sweater, but maybe not my last. 🙂
“A friend gifted me that pattern when she passed …” … fortuntely, I know how this is meant.
Love the sweater. Keep on knitting!
Carina.
Cassy. Wear that beautiful sweater proudly. We are watching carefully rom Canada, increasingly shocked every day by the “proceedings”. They get worse every ending good and positive thoughts and every day feel a little more positive that very positive that Biden will come through. I’m a kiwi living in Canada so also watching wonderful Jacinda prepare for another victory!
Thank you! I still can’t believe he won in the first place. I’m really really feeling hopeful about Biden!
