I finished a Stockholm Sweater last week and it’s a light cloud of softness. This sweater is by Petit Knit and I like that it’s a basic piece that will fit well into my wardrobe. I used Zealana Air, held doubled, for this project. This yarn has a fun combination of cashmere, brushtail possum down, and mulberry silk. It’s really soft and lightweight and warm. This made me a little bit crazy while working on it because like any time I’m knitting with yarns held doubled, I inevitably drop one of the strands here and there and it bugs me. I then try to find them and drop the stitches for that column and pick them back up. This created a few columns that didn’t completely go away with blocking, but I’d rather have that than eventual weak spots in the sweater. Eventually I got fatigued while doing this and gave up when I got to the sleeves. I wanted to get it finished and move on to other things.I put this down several times to work on side projects, like Christmas arm warmers for a teacher and the kiddos. There are relatively few exciting points to mention about the knitting of this sweater. I used to think I wouldn’t like the fit of drop sleeve sweaters, but they’re kind of growing on me these days and they’re definitely easier to execute than set-in sleeves, finishing-wise. I didn’t make alterations to the pattern, though I wish I’d taken the tubular cast-off suggestion to match the collar better. It’s a small detail that no one else is likely to notice, but it’s a nice bit of polish. I had to order additional yarn for this a second time so I think I was mostly ready to be done with it at the end. All in all, it was fine and the dyelots were close enough that I didn’t notice at all.Looking forward to many cozy days wearing this fuzzy sweater!
