I’m not a big fan of Christmas knitting. I like to knit for birthdays or hand off knitted items throughout the year just for fun. Mostly, I don’t like the pressure to finish things by a certain deadline because knitting is my coping skill and I like to use it to keep my brain healthy. I did knit one Christmas present for Matt and I’ll show that on the blog soon. That one cracked me up because I knit it in front of him for probably three weeks and he was still totally surprised. Ha.

Here are some pieces of Element.

I’m really enjoying working on this sweater and I’m taking my time with it. It’s a lot of simple, meditative stockinette, which is really what we all need during the holiday season. The sleeves were a lot of fun in the Sweet Georgia Yarns Snapdragon kit. I have close to half of each of the colors left, so one of the girls will probably get some kind of complimentary sweater. I’m working with Hazel Knits Artisan Sock in Malachite now and it’s a dream. Hazel Knits has been one of my favorite yarns to knit with since I first learned of it. Oddly enough, I think I have never actually made socks with the yarn. I have only used it in sweaters and shawls.

The length is nice as is so far. I’ve added at least an additional inch right now. In the pattern the sweater looks like it’s meant to hit on the high hip. I imagine possibly wearing this with leggings and a longer button down shirt, so additional length is ok with me. This is going to be a favorite knit when finished. The wild sleeves delight me and fingering weight yarn means this will transition well into spring. I am enjoying jumping back and forth between this and socks.

In this cozy time of year (for the Northern hemisphere anyway), I love to curl up and watch new shows. Any recommendations? I mostly stream on Amazon Prime, Netflix, and Hulu. I just recently devoured The OA and Westworld and loved both. I love the Gilmore Girls, but that reboot was vastly disappointing given my expectations. I gladly welcome any TV recs.
