I’ve been lax about blog attempts through the holiday. Along with the whirlwind of Christmas I caught a nasty cold and am recovering from that. I should have taken more time off from work, but being self-employed, I feel I should still work some of the days and not take off two whole weeks, or at least that’s what the overachieving boss in my head says.
Regardless, these are the hats I finished for Charlotte’s teachers and handed out before the break. I’m pretty pleased with them, and they were extremely simple to execute. The pattern is Erie Hat and is free. Looking at my finished hats it seems I have a loose interpretation of 7.5 inches before the crown shaping, depending on the day. Close enough.
All of these hats were made with Malabrigo Rios, a merino wool worsted weight washable yarn. Perfect for quick knitting and gifting to folks that might not know how to care for wool. The mint green one is one of my favorite Malabrigo colors, called Water Green.
The reddish-purple-orange loveliness is called Archangel. I used this color last year for Zooey’s kindergarten teacher’s arm warmers. It plays nicely with a neutral in color work.
The darker green is called Fresco y seco. I love the slight variation in all of these yarns, and they’re nice and soft for wool-hesitant folks as well. I really hope the teachers like them!
Lovely – Malibrigo is fabulous, I agree!
They are wonderful presents. I understand the cold thin, I have been fighting mine for two weeks. And also the self employed thing, I am working aprts of last week and this week. Feel better and Happy New Year!
They look stunning. <3
What a great idea for teacher gifts! I hadn’t thought of knitting for my daughter’s teachers for some reason, but hats might be my plan for next Christmas. 🙂
