Migration is finished and ready to bring on the cozy. This delightful swath of cables only took 5 balls of Kelbourne Woolens Scout in coral heather, much to my surprise. The pattern is written for worsted weight. I went down a size and used DK weight yarn and it worked out as planned. I ended up with a sweater about 41 inches wide.

This cardigan was addictive. I started it on Christmas Eve and finished sewing it up yesterday, so it was finished in a little under three weeks. It coincided with shorter work weeks and lots of indoor days. This pop of color is a nice relief from too too many gray days outside.

This pattern is well written and the cable pattern is very simple to execute. It’s meant to be worn slightly oversized, and I went with something that is about 4 inches larger than my bust size. It’s nearly perfect. I think if it had pockets it would be my ultimate lounge-around-in oversized cardigan. I find myself feeling for pockets once in awhile.

The buttons I used were what I had on hand, but the buttons for this pattern are meant to be about 3/8 inch larger than what I had in my stash. I ordered some larger ones, but I couldn’t wait and put these on in the meantime. I could also tighten up the buttonholes just a smidge and make these work. I originally put in an extra buttonhole, but then afterward I changed my mind and I closed it with a mattress stitch. It was too high and it was into the area where the shawl collar starts to turn at the neckline.

It was rainy outside, so a good portion of these were taken in my bathroom since that room has the best light on a gloomy day. I’m happy to add this sweater to my collection. This year it seems all I want to knit are sweaters! I’m just going to go with it.
