I started a Still Light Tunic at the end of September. I love this pattern and it’s my third time to make it. This time I decided I would fade some colors together, because, why not?! I have had these skeins of La Bien Aimee since sometime this summer when this occurred to me. I knew I probably would not get to it until the fall, because it’s mildly torturous to work on over a mile of knitting that you cannot wear immediately upon finishing.

So far, it’s a little crazy, but I like it. All of the yarn is La Bien Aimee BFL Tough Sock. The top color is Blush, followed by Waterlily, then the final color will be Vespa Graffiti. The Blush has a little bit more of a mauve/tan element than I thought, which threw me for a bit. I was expecting it to look a little more pink to blend in well with the second color. I love the way they blend together when I alternate the colors.

What you see here has already been ripped back by quite a few inches and redone. I did not feel like also redoing pictures, so here is a picture from a week ago. Even though I’ve completed this tunic twice before, I was not clearly paying attention to the increases and did them incorrectly for every other set. To top that off, I did my measurements and math about the faded sections slightly wrong. Having two issues was too much for me, so yesterday I ripped out about nine inches of it, and I’m just back into the solid section of Waterlily now. The increases are correct, and the faded portion of Blush and Waterlily is a little wider now. I like it much better so far, and my brain does not have that nagging feeling of dread that in two more inches I might want to rip things out. Phew.

I was hoping to finish this to wear to a friend’s wedding on the 19th. That might not be realistic anymore, but it’s fine either way. It’s a comfy knitting-forever kind of project now. It’s possible that this will all seem super wild and crazy when I finish it, but I’m sure I’ll wear it either way.
