I’m about a half of a leg and two pockets away from being done on the New Pants in Town. I really want to finish these while it’s still cold, yet I get so distracted by other projects because these are row after row of fairly teeny stockinette. Thank goodness the yarn is super soft and I like the color.

The yarn is Juniper Moon Herriot Fine in Aquarium. Realistically, these might be finished and not get worn until the next cold season, but that’s ok. I know the hours and hours of future lounging is worth the effort. I might have been finished with these already, but I was hurting my wrist and forearm a bit by focusing exclusively on tiny yarn on small needles. I had to take breaks and work on Flaum since it was on significantly larger needles. Flaum is done and needs to be photographed, so naturally I had to cast on another sweater on larger needles, but that’s a post for another day.

These pants are going to be more snug than the sizing suggests, but there are a couple of factors that go into that decision. I was changing the weight of the yarn and worried about running out. I’m also using a 75 percent alpaca, 25 percent polyamide yarn. I have never made a project this large out of a mostly alpaca yarn and I’ve heard that alpaca has a tendency to grow a bit. I’m planning for the longevity factor and hope that since they are superwash and alpaca, making a more snug fit initially will keep them from being super droopy later on. It’s an experiment that no matter what will produce super soft lounge pants.
