I finished Livie, by Tamy Gore a couple of weeks ago. I made it out of the exact yarn specified in the pattern—even the suggested colors—which I rarely do. The yarn is Hedgehog Fibres sock yarn in Seed and Rusty Nail.
After scouring through the available combinations using Hedgehog Fibres on different websites I kept being drawn to this combo. I love the way the little flecks of color in the Seed (lighter color) colorway complement the rusty red-orange of Rusty Nail. I have another shawl in a similar red-orange from ages ago that I still have and love to wear, so I knew this color would work well in my wardrobe.
All in all, this shawl was fun to knit. I like the alternating sections of stripes and light lace for other sections. The construction was easy to follow. This would be a perfect project for someone that was fairly knew to knitting, and it’s well written. It has lots of soothing garter. I can definitely see myself making another one sometime. I could have made this out of things in my stash, but I was so drawn to the clean pop of color against the more neutral color in this combo and I couldn’t resist it.
I still haven’t blocked it, but I’m wearing it anyway!
Looks fantastic on you!
It looks super great, and the colours suit you very well!! YAY for garter stitch, too!!! These are the best projects – they block well, are complete comfort knitting and you can do things on the side without having to interrupt for counting. I haven’t knit with Hedgehog fibres yet, but I do love their colours!! One day. 😉 (Also, I feel you for wanting to make another one – I’m knitting Leventry at the moment and I can totally see myself casting on a second one.)
Love those colours!
