Eventide has come to an end. I barely made it with the amount of yarn I had. I ended up having to unravel my swatch and I had about 10 rows left of the 4 inch swatch. Phew! I was definitely getting nervous at the end and consoling myself with thoughts that I probably had a close enough grey yarn in my stash should I have to finish the neckline and arm edging with different yarn.

This has been a fun project overall and I’m really pleased with the results. This has not been wet-blocked, because I cast off the final arm finishing this morning and decided to steam it and weave in a few ends. As you can see in the photo below, I did not successfully trim away all of the excess ends before donning the top, but perfection is not my goal. Wearing it was. I think the part with the motif will be a little smoother and more even with wet-blocking, but I was really eager to wear it and blog about it.img_1226

I’m wearing Eventide with some Arthur pants I finished and blogged about recently. I’m satisfied with both the width and length of this top. Due to the heavier yarn I used (Miss Babs Keira in Quicksilver, McHales, and French Marigold), I went down a size. The length was a teeny bit longer than the pattern specs (about 1/2 inch here before blocking) but it’s a pretty much perfect length for me for high-waisted pants and maybe as a layer over dresses too. This has about 3 inches of positive ease at the bust, pre-blocking. It may grow a bit with blocking, but probably not dramatically. I’ve made two sweaters out of this yarn already and in neither case did the blocking throw off the sizing in a big way. I’m ok with this gaining a little more ease with blocking now that I can try it on.img_1224

It’s a comfortable and pretty knit, probably too hot to be wearing today, but the weather and my clothing desires do not always align perfectly. This will be wonderful for 60 degree days when those are a regular occurrence.img_1225

Next up for me is a Jessie Maed Very V-Neck Raglan. I think I’m going to try a fade of some kind to put together some pretty single skeins of sock yarn, but I need to make sure they blend well together in a swatch first. More on that soon!
