This hat is perhaps about two years in the making. It languished in a bin of unfinished knits for a looooong time. I made two other color combinations of this hat in the same kind of yarn. The yarn is Neighborhood Fiber Co. Rustic Fingering in Canton (green) and Reservoir Hill (navy). I’ve made two hats so far with the Reservoir Hill, one time with it as the main color and one time as the contrast color. It looks like I have enough left to use it as the contrast color if I want to make another hat using it.

I think I would make this one repeat longer if I make it a fourth time. I’d like just a hair more slouch.

This is a really fun two-color brioche project. It would probably be much much faster to complete if I actually kept working on it instead of putting it down for a couple of years. I think I got a little burned out after making two in quick succession when this issue of Pom Pom Quarterly came out. I do love the way it looks, and Matt has been stealing the first one I made all of the time lately, so that was good motivation to pick this one up and actually finish it.

This hat is fingering weight, so it’s a good transition piece for the fall and spring. It’s mostly warm enough for Arkansas winters, but lately I’ve been thinking I really need more cute worsted weight hats if I’m going to spend time outside with friends for covid-safe hangs. I hope you all are taking quarantine seriously out there. This pandemic is creeping in very closely. I am only doing telehealth these days in my therapy practice and just today two of my clients reported having covid, and another has parents and a grandparent that are sick with it right now. I’m really grateful that a vaccine is close on the horizon, but we’ve got a slog of cold months to get through before that. Please take care, and be safe.
